David Medalla: Cloud Canyon no. 14
May 13 – July 3 2011
Designed by David Medalla (b.1943) for the New Museum, Cloud Canyon no. 14 (1963/2011) is one of the London-based artist’s signature “bubble machines.” These works are described by Medalla as the first “auto-creative sculptures”—works built with industrial materials to generate kinetic, evolving forms.
Cloud Canyon no. 14 is organized by Gary Carrion-Murayari, Associate Curator.
David Medalla’s Cloud Canyon no. 14 and Neil Beloufa’s Kempinski are the first presentations in the “Stowaways” series—a constellation of episodic projects and spontaneous interventions in spaces throughout the New Museum.
