This month, families are invited to explore “George Condo: Mental States,” the American artist’s first retrospective including paintings and sculpture. Condo’s work explores the idea of “artificial realism,” which has given life to imagined characters.
Conventionally, a portrait depicts an individual who exists, or once existed. Condo’s portraits do not. Have a conversation with members of your family or close friends and discover what wonderful and unexpected stories can emerge by placing Condo’s extraordinary characters in a fantastic world. Inspired by Condo’s artwork, create portraits of your own imagined characters.
