New Museum First Saturdays for Families: Families Demonstrate for the Future
November 5 2011
Discover the spectacular installations and sculptures of “Carsten Höller: Experience,” the first New York survey of this internationally celebrated artist. Initially trained as a scientist, Höller creates worlds that are equal parts laboratory and fun house, investigating ideas of safety, childhood, love, happiness, and the future. Explore works such as Mirror Carousel, 2005, with its playful collision of youth and peril, as well as the chirping of his Singing Canaries Mobile, 2009. Then re-imagine Carsten Höller’s 1991 performance Children Demonstrate for the Future, 1991, by creating posters, signs, stickers, and fliers to march in the name of the future.
