Care Sessions was a series of talks, performances, and events conceptualized as medicinal dialogues on aging, disobedience, healing performances, and toxicity offered throughout Simone Leigh’s residency and exhibition “The Waiting Room.” Within the exhibition, Leigh suggests that creating a space for wellness may require both the making of a sanctuary and an act of disobedience against the systemic enactment and repudiation of black pain. All care sessions were open to the public free of charge and took place on the Fifth Floor.
